This book by Dr. Elvis Foster is as the subtitle describes, “A Journey through Scriptures.” It is a very effective guide for anyone who is seeking a basic understanding of the Bible. Dr. Foster has truly demonstrated his patience in reading and researching the Biblical text and making it available to today’s fast-pasted reader. This is a practical demonstration of how a person such as Dr. Foster who does not purport to be a theologian might gain a better understanding of Bible truths. The book’s logical structure makes it easy to follow. The themes that are covered are needed in today’s culture where the shallowness concerning scriptural knowledge makes it so easily possible for people to apostatize from their faith.

 

As I read the work and reflect on Dr. Foster as a scientist, I am reminded of Alfred North Whitehead, the great mathematician, who turned theologian/philosopher. There is no question that this work is not only a brilliant offering to answer intellectual question concerning the Judeo-Christian Scriptures, but also a help for those who wish to grow spiritually.
